Quick Guide to Instagram Content Creation

Streamline Your Instagram Strategy

When it comes to social media, everyone has their strategy. Many of my clients initially believe they need to be active on every platform, which quickly becomes overwhelming. As a marketer, I’m here to tell you—it is a lot. But the good news? You don’t have to be everywhere at once. Instead, focus your efforts on one or two platforms that make the most sense for your business and channel all your social media energy there.

At KAdesign, we concentrate on Instagram and Pinterest. While we have a Facebook page, the constant changes to Facebook’s business platform and our target audience make it less of a priority for us. On the other hand, Instagram requires regular attention, which can be challenging. However, I’ve found a strategy that helps manage this: batching your Instagram content one month (or week) at a time.

Batch Your Instagram Content: A Week or Month at a Time

Instagram thrives on “in-the-moment” content, making it ideal for sharing behind-the-scenes photos and real-time updates. Because of this, I don’t recommend creating all your content in advance. Instead, have a plan, backup ideas, and some business basics ready. This approach allows you to stay flexible while maintaining a consistent presence.

Create Instagram Content Categories

To simplify content creation for the month, develop 7 categories relevant to your business/life and create 4-5 posts for each category. This method provides a full month of content with minimal stress. At KAdesign, our overarching categories include:

  • Marketing

  • Graphic Design

  • Motherhood

  • Introvert

  • Organizing

  • Business tools

  • Glimmers - look for the good

I then break these down by week, assigning specific post ideas to each day. Some content, like blogs and quotes, already have reels prepared. For others, I create the content on the day of posting, but having a plan makes it much more manageable.

Use B-roll to Enhance Your Instagram Brand

Creating engaging Instagram reels doesn't have to be time-consuming. B-roll videos are one of the easiest ways to make quick, visually appealing content. These clips can be easily integrated into your reels to showcase your brand's style and message without constant filming.

Create a Publication Calendar

Finally, map out your month with a publication calendar. This simple yet effective tool helps you stay organized and consistently posting. Include the topic, image/video idea, and any relevant links for each day, giving yourself an easy reference point when you sit down to create or are having an off day and need a little extra help!
